Mountain Training - To inspire, enable and develop people in walking, climbing and mountaineering through the provision of nationally and internationally recognised skills training and leadership courses. All Mountain Training courses are quality assured and delivered through its network of approved providers. Calshot Activity Centre is approved to deliver the Climbing Wall Instructor scheme course.
This training course provides the foundations and requirements for the CWI Abseil assessment course which will allow you to supervise others on artificial climbing walls. The syllabus includes teaching belaying, group management and coaching climbing movement.
You must ensure that you meet the requirements stipulated by Mountain Training before attending the course. Once you have completed this course you can do your assessment.
Requirements:
- You must be a member of a mountaineering council: BMC, Mountaineering Scotland or Mountaineering Ireland (you can join one when you register if you're not already a member) -

- You must be registered on the scheme. If you have not already done so, please register here
- You must have completed your CWI training before attending.
- You must have an understanding of the wider sport of climbing.
- You must be at least 17 years old (18 at assessment)
- You must have an up to date logbook (preferably DLOG) with evidence of the following
- You must have experience of at least 5 abseils from more than one location.
