Location: Calshot Activities Centre - Situated between the New Forest National Park and the Solent.
Ideal For: Gold DofE participants (please check with your DofE Leader before booking) and anyone aiming to enhance their CV with hands-on environmental science experience.
Join us for a transformative week that blends outdoor adventure with environmental science. This Gold DofE Residential offers hands-on experience in Marine Biology, Freshwater Ecology, and Geology, all set in one of the UK’s most stunning natural environments.
Whether you're passionate about conservation or simply curious about the natural world, this residential will challenge, inspire, and connect you with like-minded peers.
What You’ll Experience
๐ถ Kayak Exploration - Discover the salt marshes and Southampton Water by kayak, observing unique ecosystems and wildlife.
๐งโ๏ธOutdoor Adventure - Push your boundaries with climbing and snowboarding — no prior experience needed!
๐ฒFreshwater Ecology Fieldwork - Conduct real scientific investigations in the New Forest, studying freshwater habitats and biodiversity.
๐ Marine Biology Techniques - Explore the intertidal coast, identify marine organisms, and learn professional sampling methods used by marine scientists.
๐๏ธ Jurassic Coast Day Trip - Visit the iconic Jurassic Coastline for geological exploration and Real Rock climbing.
๐ง Meet the Experts - Engage with passionate environmental professionals who will share insights into conservation careers and inspire your journey.
Additional Information
- Arrive between 0900-1200 Monday morning. Leave from 1345 Friday.
- Participants will stay in our accommodation buildings right here on the stunning Calshot Spit.
- The first meal is served at Monday lunchtime and the last meal served at Friday lunchtime.
