Mountain Training Lowland Leader Award Training

The Mountain Training Lowland Leader Award is designed for those who want to lead groups on day walks in lowland environments such as farmland, woodland, coastal paths and rolling countryside. Whether you work in outdoor education, youth groups, schools, Duke of Edinburgh programmes, or simply want to enhance your own leadership skills, this training provides the knowledge and practical experience needed to become an effective lowland walk leader.

Delivered by experienced Mountain Training qualified instructors, this two-day course combines classroom-based learning with practical outdoor sessions. You will learn how to plan and manage walks, navigate accurately using maps and navigation tools, assess and manage risk, understand access and environmental responsibilities, and lead groups confidently in a variety of lowland settings.

Prerequisites

Registration (Click here)

• You must be at least 17 years old
• You should have an interest in leading groups in lowland countryside
• You must create an account on our system and register for the Lowland Leader qualification (cost: £69)

To book onto the training course

• You must have recorded a minimum of 10 quality lowland day* walks which can have taken place at any point pre- or post-registration a description of a Quality Lowland Day can be found here
  OR
• You must have completed a Hill Skills course.
