Powerboat - RYA Safety Boat Course
This course will introduce you to the techniques required to provide safety or support cover to a range of craft, particularly sailing and windsurfing.
Other topics will include towing, communication and rescuing other water users. The course will use both console steer and tiller steer boats commonly found at sailing clubs and training centres.
Requirements:
- RYA Level 2 Powerboat Handling certificate
- First Aid qualification strongly recommended – We offer ITC First Aid course
- Minimum age 16
Additional Information:
- Course runs 0900 - 1630 both days
- Lunch is not provided. Please bring your own packed lunch or grab a bite to eat at our cafe.

- Layers and warm clothing highly recommended as out on the water most of the day, we can provide waterproofs.
- Powerboat Scheme Syllabus and Logbook is an optional add-on for the course - It details the structure and content of all courses from beginner to advance within the RYA Powerboat Scheme. There is also a logbook section which enables you to keep a record of your personal powerboating achievements plus information relating to all relevant shorebased courses.
- Safety Boat Handbook is an optional add-on for the course - The RYA Safety Boat Handbook aims to provide up to date advice to anyone providing Safety Boat back up. It outlines all the practical techniques, expert advice and tips needed by Safety Boat crew. Some of the content includes Safety Boat checklist, Recovering people from the water, The crew and equipment, First aid, plus many other aspects.
