Sailing - Basic Skills RYA Level 2

For those who have completed start sailing - RYA level 1, this next step will continue your progress through the RYA adult sailing scheme.

By the end of the two days, you should be able to sail efficiently and safely, including being able to recover a capsized craft. You will learn how to rig your boat according to the weather, be able to launch and recover in different wind directions and learn how to sail your boat on all points of sail most efficiently. In addition to the practical elements, you will also gain a wider background knowledge of sailing. This course will plan to use crewed boats, but is subject to change due to conditions.

Requirements:
- Sailing skills to the standard of Level 1 – please see RYA Brochure for assumed knowledge
- All those aged 14 and 15 must be accompanied by a participating adult, if this is not possible please look at our youth course titled Start Sailing- RYA Stage 3 courses

Additional Information:
- Course runs 0930 - 1700 both days
- Lunch is not provided. Please bring your own packed lunch or grab a bite to eat at our cafe.

- National Sailing Scheme Syllabus and Logbook is an optional add-on for the course - This is the official syllabus and logbook for learning to sail dinghies, keelboats, and multihulls through the RYA National Sailing Scheme.
- Start Sailing Handbook is an optional add-on for the course - This is an ideal learning and reference tool packed with the essential knowledge that you need to get afloat, regardless of your age. Each chapter guides you through essential information on areas key to learning the sport. Chapters include Rigging your boat, Going afloat, Basic skills, Tacking, Gybing, Leaving and returning to shore.
- All books will be given to participants on the 1st day of the course.
