Start Sailing - RYA Stage 1: Ages 11 - 16

Designed for those who want a more in-depth introduction to dinghy sailing, this certificated course follows the RYA youth sailing scheme, running over 2 days.

During the course, participants will gain a basic understanding of how a boat sails, as well as experience steering and controlling the dinghy. We will cover how to rig the boat and sail a course across the wind, as well as the basics of how to stay safe on the water.

- Course runs 0930 - 1700 both days

- Youth Sailing Scheme Syllabus and Logbook is included - please add to booking (only 1 free logbook per participant will be honoured). This is the official syllabus and logbook for learning to sail dinghies, keelboats, and multihulls through the RYA National Sailing Scheme.
- Start Sailing Handbook is an optional add-on for the course - This is an ideal learning and reference tool packed with the essential knowledge that you need to get afloat, regardless of your age. Each chapter guides you through essential information on areas key to learning the sport. Chapters include Rigging your boat, Going afloat, Basic skills, Tacking, Gybing, Leaving and returning to shore.
- All books will be given to participants on the 1st day of the course.
